Martianez Beach

Martianez Beach can be found close to the the public complex of  Costa de Martianez. It consists of black volcanic sand and is open to the powerful wave action of the sea making it an ideal and popular spot for those wishing to surf or bodyboard

Most people are attracted here however to visit what is quite rightly the pride of Puerto de la Cruz, the public complex of Costa Martianez.

This consists of an extraordinary and truly amazing coastal transformation conceived and created by the world famous Canarian architect Cesar Manrique.

Although this is a swimming pool and not a beach it is hard to think of it in this way as Cesar Manrique has created here a beautiful blend of architecture and nature consisting of a collection of open air seawater pools, sculptures and local flora.

As well as the four pools for adults and three for children there is a main lake (Lago Martinez) which contains in excess of 25000 m3 of seawater.

The complex can get very busy during the peak season so it is best to get here early. There is a small entrance fee but this is a small price to pay to visit and enjoy this magnificent blend of architecture and nature.
