Los Gigantes
Los Gigantes - The Giants
Los Gigantes which is Spanish for the Giants can be found near the south west tip of Tenerife
These dramatic and breathtaking range of almost sheer sea cliffs rates as one of the most spectacular views in Tenerife.
Shaped by extreme volcanic activity from the dawn of time and shaped by the erosive forces of the Atlantic Ocean across countless millennia, the almost charcoal coloured cliffs of Los Gigantes plunge dramatically into the strikingly contrasting deep blue sea from a height of up to 800m.
This makes the best way to see the Los Gigantes cliffs in all their glory from the sea. Only by taking a boat trip will you be able to fully appreciate this stunning coastline, and be able to take the best and most dramatic photos to add to your holiday scrap book.
Boat trips to see the Los Gigantes cliffs are book able from the local harbour but that is not all there is to do and see. From the local marina you can also book a boat trip to try and catch a glimpse of the ever lovable dolphins and whales which are often seen off this coastline.
Shark fishing can also be booked from the local marina and due to the clarity of these crystal clear waters; scuba diving is also popular here.
Los Gigantes village is a relatively new resort first being developed in the seventies. The pace of life here is more relaxed than some of the other resorts on Tenerife and is probably more suited to couples as the lack of beach front and steepness of the hills makes it less than ideal for families with children.
Night life here in Los Gigantes is quite subdued compared to some of the Islands resorts, but there are a range restaurants and bars in which to relax in the pleasant warm evenings, and on the weekends there is also the local fiestas to look forward to where you let yourself go and dance the night away sometimes till the break of dawn..
You can find a map of Los Gigantes here.
