El Medano Beach
Close to Tenerife’s southern airport between Candelaria and Los Cristianos, you can find a quiet fishing village called El Medano. El Medano is bordered by two mountains either side of the village. On the right hand side you have Montaña Roja, and on the left hand side Montaña Pelada.
The beach in El Medano is the longest natural white sand beach on the island but can get quite windy with large waves (the windiest times of the year tend to be September and October).
This has made the beach a favourite for surfers and more recently windsurfers as conditions are ideal, so much so that the beach in El Medano is now accepted as an international competition venue.
Los Delfines is only 3 minutes walk away and in addition, Montaña Pelada also boasts a picturesque sandy beach at its base. This beach is little known to tourists so does not get to busy but is popular with locals.
There is also nearby the nudist beach at Playa Pelada
In El Medano village you can find numerous restaurants where you can enjoy the traditional Canarian cuisine, after which you could visit one of the local shops
