Anaga Mountains
The Anaga Mountains

The Anaga Mountains are arguably considered as one of Tenerife’s best kept secrets and virtually divide the island in two.
The split is quite diverse with the banana and pineapple plantations growing on carefully cultivated terraces on the north side contrasting with the parched and arid landscape on the south side.
In the middle though are the magnificent Anaga Mountains boasting some of the most breathtaking and exhilarating views and panoramas on the Island.
The climate here is quite temperate and lush and as it is sometimes bathed in cloud it can become quite moist so if you are planning to visit this area make sure you come armed with suitable warmer clothing.
The Anaga Mountains make up a wide ranging protected area considered to have a very important ecological value which is hardly surprising when you consider it has some of the oldest bay forests on the entire European continent.
In addition the Anaga Mountains also consist of luxurious silver laurel and pine forests which stretch for many miles.
The Anaga Mountains still maintain some of the original methods of habitation on the island and being a haven for walking, hikers can still come across traditional villages with little or no vehicular access to the outside world as well as caves adapted for living which are still in use today.
The Anaga Mountains are truly the hidden Tenerife.
